Instructions: In large pan or Dutch oven brown beef in oil, stirring frequently. Add tomatoes, tomato juice, onion, garlic, 4 teaspoons salt (or less to taste), and remaining seasonings. Simmer, covered, one hour; stir once or twice. Add kidney beans and pickles. Uncover; cook 30 minutes longer, stirring occasionally.
