1/3 cup olive oil
2 x leeks coarsely chopped
2 x celery stalks coarsely chopped
2 x garlic cloves minced
4 cup chicken broth
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp marjoram
1 x bay leaf
Freshly-ground black pepper to taste
1/2 cup cooked (or canned) kidney beans
1/2 cup cooked (or canned) garbanzo beans
Instructions:
Instructions: Heat oil over moderate heat in large pot. Add leeks, celery and garlic and saute 3 to 4 minutes. Add remaining ingredients except for string beans. Bring soup to a boil, then lower heat. Simmer for 20 minutes.

Add string beans and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes more, until string beans are cooked but still crunchy.

This recipe yields 6 to 8 servings.
