Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a 9X13 baking pan.
Combine candy bars and butter in a heavy saucepan; place over low heat until melted, stirring constantly. Combine sugar and shortening; beat until creamy. Add eggs and continue beating until light & fluffy. Combine flour and salt; combine buttermilk and baking soda. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and candy bar mixture. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely on wire rack. Frost with your favorite frosting or dust with powdered sugar.
