Instructions: Sprinkle yeast over water and stir until dissolved. Add salt, sugar, and butter to warm milk and cool to lukewarm. Add 1 cup of flour to milk mixture and mix well. Add softened yeast and egg and remaining flour and knead (or use wooden spoon) and mix well until dough is satiny smooth and elastic and leaves side of pan and blisters appear on surface. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in bulk. Punch down with fist and let rise again. Turn out onto lightly floured board and shape as desired.
Makes very good pecan rolls, creamed coffee cake, crescent rolls or clover leaf rolls. Email this Recipe:
