1 tsp butter for greasing pan (to 2 tsps.)
2 cup all-purpose flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
3 tbl cocoa
6 tbl butter softened
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup milk
----------------- Topping ----------------
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
6 tbl cocoa
2 cup water
Vanilla ice cream optional
Instructions:
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9-by-13-inch baking pan. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar cocoa powder and the 6 tablespoons of butter. Add the vanilla and milk and whisk until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

For the topping, mix together both sugars and the cocoa. Sprinkle the topping over the batter. Drizzle the water gently over the topping mixture. The water should start out standing on top of the topping.

Check for doneness after about 30 minutes. The cake should look like a big brownie with streaks of glossy chocolate pudding throughout, with most of the pudding ending up as a bottom layer. If not, bake for 15 more minutes.

Remove from the oven and serve the cake by spooning it out of the pan. Serve with vanilla ice cream or unsweetened whipped cream, if desired.
