Instructions: Saute 1/2 to 1 pound of fresh mushrooms (coarsely sliced) in butter, just enough so they begin to smell like mushrooms. Butter 3 slices of white bread and cut in 1 inch cubes and put in greased casserole.
2 cup each of chopped onion, celery and Combine mushrooms with 1/2 green pepper. Add 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and pour on bread. Butter 3 more slices of bread and cube, put on top. Add 2 slightly beaten eggs with 1 1/2 cup milk. Refrigerate an hour. Finally an hour before you want to serve it, spoon a can of undiluted mushroom soup over it and 2 more slices of buttered bread diced smaller on top. Bake 60 to 70 minutes at 325 degrees. About 10 minutes before serving sprinkle some grated yellow cheese on top. 6 to 8 servings. Email this Recipe:
