4 slc bacon
1/2 lb fresh okra cut in 1 " lengths
1/2 cup water
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Instructions:
Instructions: Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp; remove bacon, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings in skillet. Crumble bacon, and set aside. Cook okra in drippings over medium heat, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes or until okra is lightly browned. Add water and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes or until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender. sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
