Instructions: Butter a 2-quart casserole dish well. Put can of tomatoes in casserole. Cut up tomatoes in bite size pieces. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and sugar. Spread chopped onion over all. Cut toasted bread into small pieces and stir in gently. Bake at 325 uncovered about 1 1/2 hours until most of the juice is absorbed and the dish looks brown and candied.
