1 cup raisins
1 cup water
3/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 x eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
2 cup rolled oats
Instructions:
Instructions: Simmer raisins and water in saucepan over low heat until raisins are plump

(20 to 30 minutes). Drain raisin I liquid into measuring cup. Add enough water to make 1/2 cup. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in the raisin liquid. Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices. Blend in. Add rolled oats, nuts and raisins. Drop by rounded teaspoonful of dough about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Makes 6 to 7 dozen cookies.
