1/2 cup milk
1 whl chicken - (3 to 3 1/2 lbs) cut into 8 pieces
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp salt
1 tsp freshly-ground black pepper
Instructions:
Instructions: Place the milk in a large bowl. Add the chicken, coating completely. In another large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and pepper; mix well. Remove the chicken from the milk and place in the flour mixture, coating completely.

Heat the shortening in a large deep skillet over medium heat until hot but not smoking. Carefully place the chicken in the skillet and cook, turning occasionally, for 20 to 22 minutes, or until the coating is brown and the chicken is no longer pink inside.

Drain on a paper towel-lined platter. Serve immediately.
