Instructions: Place yeast and sugar in bowl of kitchen Aid mixer with flat beater attachment. Heat buttermilk and water in microwave until warm. Pour over yeast and sugar and mix until combined. Turn off mixer. Allow yeast, sugar, and water to sit for about 3-5 minutes. Add in oil, salt, flour and baking soda. Mix until a soft dough forms. Scrape dough from flat beater and allow dough to rest for 10 minutes.
Melt butter in a 9" dark round cake pan. Lightly touch fingers in melted butter and coat hands (this prevents the dough from sticking to your hands.) Using a spoon or scoop spatula, scoop out about a rounded ) tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball with your hands. Drop ball into the pan. Roll all remaining dough in similar fashion, lightly buttering hands again as needed. Turn all balls of dough to coat in melted butter. Place pan in a warm place to rise. Hheat a 1/2 c. of water to boiling in microwave. That creates a warm and moist environment and you do not need to cover the dough. Remove the cup of water and place cake pan in microwave to rise. You can let it rise anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes. The longer the better. Preheat oven to 425F . Bake rolls for 10-12 minutes until nicely browned. Makes about 12 rolls. Email this Recipe:
