Instructions: Sprinkle yeast over warm water. Set aside. Combine sugar, salt and shortening with hot water, and stir until shortening melts. Add beaten eggs and 1 cup of flour. Stir in yeast mixture and add remaining flour to make a soft dough.
Refrigerate overnight. Bring dough to room temperature and let rise. Punch down dough and divide into two portions. Roll each portion into a rectangle, 1/4 inch thick. Spread with orange filling. Roll up dough and cut into 1- inch slices. Place slices in well greased muffin tin cups. Also to rise, 2 - 3 hours. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from oven and while still hot, pour orange glaze over the tops of the rolls. Yield: 2 dozen Orange filling: Cream together 1/3 cup sugar, 1/3 cup butter or margarine, and grated zest of one orange. Spread over rolled out dough before baking. Orange glaze: Combine juice of one orange and approximately 1 pound of powdered sugar to form a smooth glaze. Pour over hot rolls after baking. " Email this Recipe:
