Instructions: Using a sharp knife, cut peel and all white membrane from oranges. Cut oranges crosswise into 1/4" slices. Peel and pit avocados; cut lengthwise into 1/2" wedges.
Arrange orange slices and avocado wedges on a platter. Pour cumin dressing over them. Sprinkle with onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve. CUMIN DRESSING: Whisk together olive oil, red wine vinegar, orange juice, sugar, ground cumin, and garlic. Cover and let stand for at least 1 hour to let flavors blend. Stir to reblend before using.
