1 kg whitefish
3/4 tbl salt
1 tbl finely chopped yellow onion
3 tbl margarine or butter
100 gm fresh mushrooms or one 1/8 can mushrooms
1/2 cup crumbed white bread
2 tbl finely chopped parsley
Clean and fillet the fish.
Instructions:
Instructions: Saute the onion in the margarine or butter.

Trim and slice or chop the mushrooms; let cook along with the onion.

Pour into a buttered baking dish and mix in the bread crumbs and parsley.

Place the fish on top.

Bake in a 200 to 225 degrees oven for 10 to 15 minutes.

Baste the fish often; add a little water if necessary.

For extra fine taste add 1 to 2 tablespoons white vermouth.

Serve the fish directly from the baking dish.

Bake whole fish in the same way; allow 20 to 25 minutes cooking time.

Carp grayling pike pike perch and whitefish may be prepared in the same way.
