Instructions: In heavy, ovenproof pan or saucepan, melt butter; add oil and mix well.
Add all other ingredients, except shrimp. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sauce boils. Reduce heat, simmer 7 - 8 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove pan from heat and let stand uncovered, at room temperature, for at least 30 minutes (this can be done early in the day). To prepare shrimp: add shrimp in shell to sauce over medium heat; cook for 6 - 8 minutes until shrimp turn pink. Put in a preheated 450 degree oven, cook for 10 minutes. Serve shrimp with sauce ladled over in a large bowl in the middle of the table. We do this on the deck because its so messy! Eat with your fingers! French bread is great for soaking up extra sauce. Salad and corn on the cob are great accompaniments and make up a complete meal. Serves 4, can be doubled. Email this Recipe:
