Instructions: In a medium-sized bowl, beat together the eggs and milk. Stir in the flour. While continuing to beat, add the butter. Stir in the almond extract and lemon zest. Halve, core, and slice the pears. In a large bowl, mix together the 2 tablespoons sugar and lemon juice and toss the sliced pears in the mixture.
Preheat oven to 425 F. In each of six au gratin dishes, layer half of a pear (5 to 6 slices into each dish). Pour 1/2 cup of the batter over the pears and bake for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with the sugar and berries. Serve immediately. YIELD: 6 SERVINGS OLD MONTEREY INN Email this Recipe:
