NOTE: A good quality, non-breakable vacuum flask is a sound investment for keeping foods hot or cold on picnics throughout the year.

If you picnic often enough, its wise to have a wide-necked thermos on hand for chunky soups or thick meat mixtures, such as corn con carne. An alternative is to take along a small, compact camping stove and these are available at all good camping goods stores.
