Instructions: Sift flour, salt and bicarb soda into a bowl. Make a well in the center, add sugar, egg, milk and melted butter and stir, gradually drawing in flour from sides to make a smooth batter.

Place tablespoons of batter on a hot greased heavy frying pan.

Cook until bubbly on top and golden underneath. Turn to cook other side.

Serve with butter and jam.
