Instructions: Core and peel the pears and cut them in half. Place the pear halves into a large saucepan. Add the orange juice, allspice, raisins, and sugar to the pan and heat gently, stirring, until the sugar has dissolved. Bring the mixture to a boil for 1 minute.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes, or until pears are cooked but still firm. test them by inserting the tip of a sharp knife. Remove pears from the pan with a slotted spoon and transfer to serving plates. Serve hot with the syrup mixture. Email this Recipe:
