Instructions: Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Remove from water when melted and then stir in the sugar and corn syrup. Blend in the water. In a large bowl, combine the vanilla wafers and nuts. Add the chocolate mixture & orange extract. Mix well. Working with your hands is best as the mixture can be very stiff and may break your spoon. Form the mixture into 1" balls and roll them in the colored sugar. Place them in a foil lined tin for storage so they can ripen for at least a week. The longer they are stored in a tight container the better flavor.
Diane Says: These are best made the weekend after Thanksgiving. That way they are ready for the Holiday season. But, be very careful where you hide them! When I was a kid I always found them and always came up with a good reason to have one almost every day! Email this Recipe:
