For the meatballs: ----------------
25 gm fresh or slightly stale breadcrumbs milk
340 gm minced pork
1 tbl chopped oregano
2 tbl chopped parsley
2 tsp kecap manis (optional)
1 x salt and pepper
olive oil for frying
----------------- To serve: ----------------
1 x onion chopped
2 clv garlic chopped
2 tbl olive oil
2 x tins chopped tomatoes
1 tbl tomato paste
12 tsp sugar
10 x basil leaves shredded
1 x salt and pepper
Instructions:
Instructions: Soak breadcrumbs in milk for 10 minutes then squeeze dry.

Mix with pork herbs kecap manis (if using) salt and pepper.

Roll into hazelnutsized balls.

Pour enough oil into a heavy frying pan to cover the base.

Fry the balls in it over a medium heat until nicely browned and cooked through.

Drain briefly on kitchen paper.

To make the tomato sauce fry the onion and garlic gently in the olive oil.

Add all the remaining ingredients except the basil and goats cheese and reduce to a thick sauce. Stir in the basil.

Place the meatballs in a shallow dish and spoon over the sauce.

Scatter the cheese over the top (dont worry that it doesnt cover completely its not meant to). Bake at 200C / 400F / Gas Mark 6 for about 30 minutes until bubbling.

Serve hot with bread and a salad.

Kecap manis is Indonesian sweet soy sauce. You can substitute dark soy sauce and a pinch of sugar.
