Instructions: Sift the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar together; blend the prepared fruits and nuts with this mixture. Add the 2 beaten eggs, combined with the milk and melted shortening. Stir lightly, just enough to moisten the dry ingredients. Pour into a waxed-paper lined cake pan, about 4 by 8-inches; let stand for 30 minutes, then bake in a moderate oven for 45 minutes. Serve fresh.
