Instructions: Put yeast into lukewarm water. Scald milk and let stand to cool. Then blend together butter, sugar and well beaten eggs. Put in nutmeg and lemon flavor. Put the milk in the yeast and water and add 3 cups flour (till it is easy to handle). Put in a warm place. Let rise till double. Roll out and cut with doughnut cutter. Let rise again. Fry in deep fat. Frosting may be put on if desired.
Makes approximately 50 doughnuts. Glaze: Boil this for 3 minutes. Then add powdered sugar (just enough so its a little runny yet). Dip the doughnuts while frosting is still warm. Keep over low heat while dipping. Email this Recipe:
