Instructions: Mix shortening, sugars & egg thoroughly. Blend flour, soda & salt; stir into shortening mixture. Mix with hands. Press & mold into a long smooth roll about 1 1/2" in diameter. Wrap in wax paper & chill several hours. Heat oven to 400. With a sharp knife, cut 1/8" thick slices. Place a little apart on ungreased baking sheet. Put 1/2 tsp. filling on each cookie. Put another cookie on top. Bake 8-10 minutes.
