Instructions: For Brown rice:
2 cups water 1 cup rice Boil the water in a saucepan. When boiling, put the rice in and turn to low. Leave very gently simmering for about 20-25 mins and then turn off and leave for another 10-15 mins. For White rice: 1.5 cups water 1 cup rice Boil water in pan. When boiling, put in the rice and turn to low. Simmer very slowly for 5 minutes and just leave for another 10-15. If you have gas, you may want to simmer for a FEW minutes longer. This is because when you turn gas off, the effect is more instant - electric cooktops stay warmer for longer, so you dont have to have them on for as long. Many Asians rinse the rice first - I think that its up to you, but thats what I do. Also, DONT remove the lid of the pan before the time is up. This process works on trying to keep the steam in the pan. Email this Recipe:
