Instructions: Mix flour and salt. Rub in margarine. Stir in sugar and fruit. Add egg and milk, reserving a little for brushing top of scones. Knead lightly on a floured surface and roll out 1/2-inch thick. Cut into rounds. Re-roll the trimmings and cut more rounds. Place on a greased baking tray and brush the top with egg and milk. Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C, gas mark 7) for about 10 minutes.
Makes approximately 10 scones. (Top these with a mixture of cream cheese and strawberry jelly) NOTES : These are great for summer porch treats with company. Email this Recipe:
