1/4 cup Butter
2 tbl Minced garlic
1/2 tsp Cumin
1 tsp Hot curry powder
1 pch Fennel
1 cup Lentils
1 can (4-oz) mild green chilies

1 tsp Tumeric

Instructions: This is a
*really* wonderful lentil recipe, but Ill warn you... THIS IS NOT FAT FREE OR LOW FAT. It contains a fair amount of butter. Im going to work on a version that cuts out the butter, Ill post it when I get a good one!

Sautee the garlic in the butter until browned. While the garlic is sauteeing, mix the dry spices with 2 Tbsp water to make a paste. Add the paste to the browned garlic and stir for a couple minutes. Add the lentils

(make sure to rinse them) and stir for a few minutes. Add 2 1/2 cups water and simmer for an hour.

Serves 4. Its great by itself or with rice!

this really irked me. Please do post the yummy recipe when it is fat free or low fat - but NOT now! Its easy to find tasty recipes that have a ton of butter. Thats not why this list was created. This is not a generic for those people, and their families and friends, who are following a McDougall or Ornish-sytle vegetarian diet. It is no fun to see recipes that are purported to be wonderful that we cant eat!!!!!!!!! Frustrated, Cindy
