Instructions: Roast the ikan jambal until the fishy smell is gone. Rinse in water and slice in 1 1/2- by 1 1/2-inch squares.
Fry the chilies and spice-paste until fragrant. Add the salam leaves and the lengkuas. Continue frying for a minute or more. Add the santan (coconut milk) and fish. Bring a boil and continue simering until santan thickens. Add the tomato slices and the sugar. Continue cooking until tomato slices have gone limp. Remove and serve. Email this Recipe:
