Instructions: Pour the ingredients, one at a time in the order given, into a wide-mouth clear glass quart jar.

Seal with two-part lid covered with a circle of lace about 1 inch bigger in diameter than the jar. Tie 1/2-inch-wide ribbon around the ring of the jar lid.

Attach the following baking directions to the jar:

Combine contents of jar with 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2/3 cup vegetable oil and 3 eggs. Mix well. Pour into 8- by 8-inch pan that has been greased or sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Set aside to cool before cutting into squares or bars, or use cookie cutters for various shapes. Brownies can also be baked in a mini-muffin pan.

Makes about 2 dozen.
