Instructions: Heat the oil in a saucepan add the onion garlic chilli pepper and bacon and fry gently for 10 minutes stirring occasionally.
Add the tomatoes with their juice the sugar and salt to taste. Bring to the boil stirring cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water until al dente; drain thoroughly. Arrange alternate layers of pasta sauce and cheese in an oiled ovenproof dish finishing with cheese. Serve immediately or cover and leave in a preheated cool oven 140 degrees C/275 degrees F Gas Mark 1 for 20 to 30 minutes to allow the flavours to blend. Serves 4 Email this Recipe:
