Instructions: 1. Heat the oven to 230c.
2. Sift flour, salt, baking powder and sugar into a bowl then rub in the butter with your fingertips. 3. Add the milk and gently mix with a wooden spoon, then knead until you have a soft dough, adding a little flour to your hands as you need it. 4. Roll out the dough to 1.5cm. thick then cut into round shapes with a scone cutter or upside-down glass. 5. Place the scones onto a greased oven tray and brush with extra milk. 6. Bake for 7-10 minutes until the tops are golden and the sides are firm. 7. Lift onto a wire rack to cool or wrap in a tea towel to keep warm. 8. Serve warm with butter or jam and cream.
