Instructions: Season new cast iron by rubbing lightly with vegetable shortening; (not oil). Coat both the interior and exterior. Heat the utensil in a 250 degree oven for 2 hours. The first few times that you use the cast iron pieces, cook foods high in fat like fried chicken or bacon to build up the seasoning. Wash cast iron quickly with a little dishwashing liquid. Do not soak the cookware. Do not store food in cast iron.
