2 cup boiling water
5 tbl baking soda
1 cup chopped nuts, optional
2 cup dates, chopped
1 tsp salt
4 cup All-Bran cereal
1 cup shortening or oil
2 cup sugar
4 x eggs, beaten
5 cup flour
1 qt buttermilk
Instructions:
Instructions: Mix boiling water and baking soda; set aside and let cool. Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs using a large bowl or pan. Add other ingredients and mix. Fill muffin tins about 3/4 full and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

This may be mixed and will keep in tightly covered container in refrigerator for 6 weeks.
