Instructions: Note: ALWAYS pre-soak bamboo skewers before using. It helps prevent the exposed pieces from charring or catching alight.
Although many recipes recommend soaking for one hour, I usually soak them overnight. Some manufacturers cover the skewers with a light coating of oil, which prevents much water being absorbed. I use 2 baking dishes to soak the skewers. Spread the skewers over the bottom of the larger baking dish and cover them with water. Place a second, slightly smaller baking dish on top of the skewers, and fill 1/2 to 3/4 with water. (The weight of the second dish keeps the skewers submerged in the water.) Email this Recipe:
