Instructions: Many recipes use any of the small edible birds, including some that are not thought of as game birds. While the "4 and 20 blackbirds" in a pie are familiar in the nursery, adults rarely think of blackbirds as food. Nor does one think of eating thrushes or larks, although they and many others are edible and are eaten abroad. Of course, few of these species are legal game here, but any small, legal birds may be used.
