Instructions: Cream together one Cup Sugar, one half Cup of Lard. Add one Cup black Molasses. Dissolve one teaspoon Soda in one Cup sour milk. Add enough flour to make batter stiff. Sift with flour, one teaspoon ground ginger, one teaspoon cinnamon. Drop from spoon. Bake in moderate oven on greased tins. (Old Richmond Recipe Provd Market Square Tavern Kitchen 1937)
