Amount Ingredient
2 lb black eyed peas
1/2 lb bacon, cooked/crumbled
1 sm ham hock
3 cup chicken broth
4 oz diced green chiles
4 oz diced jalapenos
1/2 cup celery, chopped
1/2 cup carrots, sliced
1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
1 lrg onion, diced
4 x cloves of garlic, minced
1 tsp thyme
salt & pepper to taste
Instructions:
Instructions: Cook bacon in frying pan, reserving grease. Saute onion and garlic in bacon grease until tender. Rinse and pick through peas. Place peas and all other ingredients in crock pot. Add chicken broth and enough water to cover all items. cook for 8-10 hours. Stir occasionally.

Spicier than normal black eyed peas.
