Instructions: Remove the gills and at the same time the intestines except for the milt and roe.
Cover the fish with vinegar and water; mix 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water. Refrigerate for 24 hours. Drain. Put the fish and the spices in layers in a large jar. Store the herring for 3 weeks before serving stromming 1 week. Email this Recipe:
