Instructions: In small saucepan, mix together sugar and butter; add boiling water. Stir over high heat until butter is melted and sugar dissolved; reduce heat to medium and boil, uncovered, for 7 minutes.
Meanwhile, peel apples and halve lengthwise. Carefully remove cores, leaving round depression in each half. Arrange in single layer, cut side up, in pie plate; sprinkl3e with lemon juice as you work. Place 3 or 4 cranberries in each half. Pour sugar syrup over apples; sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake, uncovered, basting often, in 325 F oven for about 30 minutes or until apples are soft but not mushy. Remove from oven; baste again. Serve warm. Makes 8 apple halves. *Note: Arrange these colourful apple halves around a crispy roast goose for an attractive platter. Email this Recipe:
