Instructions: Make pastry for double crust pie. Line a 9 inch pie pan or glass pie plate with pastry. Peel apples, core, cut into eighths. Apples should not be sliced too thin. Combine flour, sugar, spices and salt. Spread about half of this mixture over unbaked crust bottom. Add the apples, putting the remaining dry mixture over them. Dot with butter. Cut a few slits in top crust to permit steam to escape. Fit top crust over apples removing excess pastry. Crimp edges with thumb to seal pie. Bake in preheated oven 425 for 40 to 50 minutes or until done.
