Instructions: In a large mixing bowl beat shortening and sugar until light. Beat in egg, orange zest, and orange juice.
In a small mixing bowl combine flour, soda, and salt; add to beaten mixture. Mix well. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Shape into a 10-inch-long log. Wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm enough to slice. Using a thin-bladed knife, cut dough into 1/4-inch thick slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350F degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are firm. Cool on wire racks. Email this Recipe:
