Instructions: In a medium saucepan, whisk together granulated sugar and cornstarch until blended. Whisk in egg and egg whites until smooth. Slowly whisk in milk until blended.
Place over medium-low heat. Cook custard sauce until thickened and smooth, about 10 minutes, whisking constantly. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Let cool slightly to serve warm or pour into a storage container, cover, and refrigerate until ready to serve. Just before serving, divide custard evenly among 6 dessert cups and top with berries. Garnish with a dusting of confectioners sugar sifted through a fine mesh sieve, if desired. This recipe yields 6 servings. Comments: You can serve this creamy vanilla sauce with any fruit, but we like it best with a combination of raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Email this Recipe:
