Instructions: Sift flour and measure. Sift 3 more times with baking powder, salt and sugar. Soften shortening, but do not melt, and add to dry mixture. Combine other ingredients and add slowly to first mixture. Beat 1 minute. Bake in 2 9-inch layer cake pans in a moderately hot oven (375 F) 25 to 30 minutes. Ice with orange frosting.
