Butter a 8 inch square baking pan. Combine half and half, corn syrup, and sugar. Stir well. Add chocolate and place over low heat until it reaches 238 degrees F degrees. Remove pan and butter, let it sit until the thermometer reaches 150 degrees. Use the thermometer to check. Add vanilla and beat with wooden spoon. When chocolate begins to loose its sheen and lighten up, add the walnuts. Working quickly, transfer it to butter pan and smooth. Cut into 16 pieces. Let it cool.
