Instructions: In the large bowl of an electric mixer, combine butter and sugar. Add flour and mix to combine. Add water, vanilla and nuts, and mix until thoroughly combined. Chill dough at least 1/2 hour before shaping cookies.
To shape, take an amount the size of a walnut, form it into a crescent shape, and place it on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 300 degrees about 30 minutes, until cookies are firm. Let cookies sit for 5 minutes, then roll them in powdered sugar while they are still warm. Makes about 3 dozen. My family has made Swedish Nut Cookies every Christmas season as far back as I can remember. They have always been delicious - buttery, crumbly, with just the right amount of sweetness.
