Instructions: Combine egg, salt, baking powder, sugar and nutmeg, and stir well. Add 1 1/2 cups warm water and stir again. Gradually stir in enough flour so that dough is stiff and only slightly sticky. With clean, floured hands, roll dough into balls the size of walnuts. Pour 1/2 inch of oil into pan and heat over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes. Carefully place balls in oil, a few at a time, and fry 3 or 4 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove from pan with slotted spoon and drain on paper towel. Serve warm.
