Instructions: Simmer the lentils in the water until soft and mushy.
Add the turmeric salt and sugar. Blend well. Heat the oil in a small pan and add the panch phoron. When it crackles add the red chillies bay leaves mango powder and raisins. Reduce the heat. Fry for a minute and pour the oil and the spices over the lentils. Add water if required to adjust the consistency which should be that of a thick soup. Bring to the boil once and serve hot.
