Instructions: Blend fresh basil, buttermilk, sliced green onions and salt in processor until smooth. Transfer to a bowl. Add mayonnaise and pepper and whisk until dressing is smooth. Let stand 30 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. (Can be made 8 hours ahead. Cover tightly and refrigerate.)
Core and slice tomatoes. Arrange on a platter. Spoon enough dressing over tomatoes to coat. Garnish with basil sprigs. Serve, passing extra dressing if necessary. Email this Recipe:
