Instructions: In a bowl combine sifted flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Add melted margarine; mix well. Reserve 1 cup of the crumb mixture for the topping.
To the remaining crumb mixture, stir in buttermilk, vanilla, and egg; the batter will be lumpy. Pour into a greased 9-inch baking pan. Add chopped pecans to the reserved topping; mix thoroughly.
