Instructions: *You will require a pan that is ovenproof.
Peel and core apples, cut into quarters. Melt butter in pan, add sugar and heat until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Arrange apples quarters in the pan in a circular fashion, standing them on their side. Its best if the entire base of the pan is covered in apples. Return pan to stove top and continue to cook gently for about 10 minutes to caramelise the sugar/butter in the base without burning. Cover apples with puff pastry sheets, tucking the sheets inside the pan around the edges of the apples. Cook 30 minutes in oven until pastry has browned and is crisp. Invert onto a serving dish and serve with cream/ice cream. Be careful, juices will be very hot. Also known as "Tarte Tatin", a traditional French dessert. Email this Recipe:
